I met Karen Ballou, the owner and founder of Immunocologie in 2019. Karen had spent most of her career as a beauty executive and aesthetician. After a battle with cancer and a long journey back to health, Karen decided to focus on building skin immunity and founded Immunocologie. Karen was looking for a brand consultant to partner with – helping to brainstorm and launch several skincare innovation products – we started collaborating on innovation ideas that Karen wanted to take to market.

The first product we worked on together was the Immunocologie Self-Heating Lava Mask which contains Lava Gel that self-heats when run under warm water, sending 12 healing volcanic rock minerals into the skin and promoting repair and regeneration. I created a simple lava graphic which was elevated with premium finishes adding depth to the emotive and material characteristics of the self-heating lava minerals.

Since its launch, the Lava Mask has garnered much press coverage including a feature in British GQ, several skincare awards and is a top seller for Immunocologie. I loved seeing the seed of this idea blossom into its success today. I continue to partner with Karen as a brand consultant on skincare product innovations and am excited to see these come to life.
